Coffee with the Pastor"

Starting on September 14th and every Wednesday from 9-11am in the narthex, Please stop by to say hi, ask questions, chat over the coffee with Myung. "All are welcome to this place."

Dear RUMC family,

On these days I am enjoying a nice and cool breeze every morning and evening. Summer is ending and a new school year has begun. As we return from summer vacations and travels, we will all be settling back into more normal routines and schedules.

On Sunday, September 11, we will gather for “Welcome Back Sunday.” This is the beginning of our new church year and also a new Sunday School year. It is an opportunity for the church family to come together, and reconnect with God. If you haven’t been in church for awhile, or if you don’t have a church home and want to reconnect with the church, we invite you to Readfield United Methodist Church.

We will open this coming Sunday with Welcome Back Bash & Information Fair at 9:15am. In this time you will be able to get information on new small groups and new programs starting this fall, and also ongoing opportunities for mission and community service that you might be interested in.  So, I invite you to come for a cup of morning coffee and refreshments with your old and new friends, and get to know more about our church. Worship begins at 10am as always, and fellowship follows. It will be a great time to reconnect with God and the church family. I hope to see many of you this Sunday!

Love in Christ ~ Pastor Myung

Announcing:
The Way of Scripture

This small group series consists of 7 sessions in which we explore a way to approach scripture known as Lectio Divina (meaning divine reading). It is related to, but not the same as, our Centering Prayer practice.

The plan is to offer Centering Prayer every Monday at 6:15 pm – and to hold this “Bible Study” on the Mondays when no other activities are scheduled. In this way, you can come for Centering Prayer – and if you wish – remain for this small group study. The Way of Scripture will meet at 7:00 pm on the following dates:

#1: Sept 19

#2: Sept 26
#3: October 17
#4: October 24
#5: October 31
#6: November 21
#7: November 28

The four movements of Lectio Divina. Clockwise from top left: Lectio ("read");Meditatio ("meditate"); Oratio ("pray");Contemplatio ("contemplate")

There is a participant book with readings, short daily exercises, and you are encouraged to keep a journal of your thoughts. For more information and/or to sign up, contact Claire Piddock at  clairebp@myfairpoint.net or contact the office. All are welcome!

Greetings

As we begin another school year Readfield United Methodist Church is undertaking and starting an exciting new ministry - A youth program for grades 6-12 and an after school school program for elementary children, K-5.

Both programs have the potential to change lives and give the young people in our community opportunities. In order for these programs to be successful and meet their potential they need your support, financially but even more important, they need you.

Hilltop Christian Youth is being led by Anne Marie Jenkins and Jeff Link and Hilltop After School is being led by Becky diBonaventure (we are looking for a co-leader with Becky). Both programs have the support of Kents Hill School and the after school program will have students helping the children.

Programs will begin the first of October, Hilltop Youth will meet once a month and Hilltop After School will be Tuesday & Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30.

At this moment the after school program needs your help - with reading, games, preparing snacks, and even some homework. Please make a difference in these kid’s lives as RUMC begins such an important ministry. A sign-up sheet will bein the narthex.
Thank you and let this be a God filled day.
